Known as the “Choice of Champions”, Clermont, Florida is an award-winning city that is home to just over 30,000 residents. It was named one of the Top 20 Cities in America and the Best Central Florida City to Live In! Located in Lake County, Clermont is about 22 miles west of Orlando and 22 miles southeast of Leesburg.

This mostly residential-in-character city has its economy centered mostly around in retail trade, tourism-related restaurants, and lodging. This fast-growing city is very attractive to families, upcoming businesses, office development, and health and fitness centered companies.

Clermont Activities and the Lay of the Land

In addition to plenty of places to shop and dine, there are tons of sports facilities including baseball fields, basketball courts, and more than 15 golf courses. If sports aren’t your thing, the city’s performing arts center seats 1,200 people and is considered the largest in the country. If you prefer to be outside, spend an afternoon in the great Florida sunshine at the popular Lakeridge Winery & Vineyards.

Many of Clermont’s residents can be found in the historic downtown part of town. Here you can find restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and many historic buildings. Many locals and tourists alike can tour various homes and museums downtown, some even dating back to 1885!

Thanks to its “hilly” terrain, Clermont is also often referred to as the “Gem of the Hills”. Its gorgeous landscape is a huge draw for locals and visitors, and is home to many parks where the outdoor enthusiasts can hike, camp, fish, and horseback ride. The hills also provide some great space for paragliders and hang-gliders alike.

As mentioned previously, Clermont is a very popular place for families to settle down and thrive. The median home value here is $264,200, and price value of homes have gone up 7.1% in the past year. Zillow predicts that it will rise again 4.1% in the next year.

The median price per square foot is about $137, which is lower than the Central Orlando area. If you are looking to purchase a house in the near future, the median price of homes currently listed in Clermont is around $300,000. If you aren’t looking to settle down and buy a home just yet, the average rent in Clermont is right around $1,700. This is about $200 more than the surrounding Central Florida area.
